Music Ministries Director

Marcia Desilets

Marcia Kidder Desilets is a resident of Sterling, MA. She currently teaches violin, viola, and piano to students in the surrounding communities. Marcia recieved her Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance from New England Conservatory in 1981. She has studied violin with Robert Koff and Virginia Neikrug, as well as becoming certified in several levels of the Suzuki pedagogy. She has played in a number of area orchestral groups such as the Thayer Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Pro Musica, and the Lancaster Chamber Ensemble. Marcia has also been an organist and choir director in several area churches. She has three adult children, Danielle, Brent and Alex, who all play various instruments and sing.

I believe that music is an essential element of worship. It is not just a profession for me, but a way of life. From my studies at New England Conservatory to my many years playing in orchestras and ensembles, to teaching music to many students and sharing my music skills in churches, I have had the good fortune of being blessed but also blessing many others. I have especially enjoyed encouraging young people to discover their innate musical talents and share them with their church family. Even my studio students are encouraged to share the music that they learn in lesson with their individual churches.

My joy is being able to bring a spiritual quality to the service that would not be there otherwise. My belief in God and my love of music inspire me as I serve, and it is an honor to be apart of the United Parish Church and welcome you to join us for Sunday services at 10am and lets worship the Lord together in singing!

  • Palms for Palm Sunday

Are you ready for a drive by palm?

What is Palm Sunday without Palms? We have the solution. Come for your Drive By Palm.

This Palm Sunday is most unusual. Whoever thought that we would not be able to physically come together to celebrate the triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem. How can we join in together in the parade of palms? Though physically we are not here we can do this together spiritual.

    Tradition says we need palms.

We are pleased to announce to you that you may come by the church and pick up a palm that has been blessed and consecrated on Palm Sunday, April 5th from 9am - 1pm, these are your Drive by Palms.

The palms will be left on a table in front of the church. If you feel safe and able, please drive by the church and pick up your palms.

We will have followed all the best safe practices by handling the palms with gloves. The palms will be spread out so you can take the one you would like without touching the others.

May God’s blessing continue to be on us as we celebrate our savior together.

God bless you and be safe.
